In module 3 of my class, we were asked to view the SAMR model and the Technology Integration Matrix. We are supposed to self-assess where we feel we fall on both models and where we expect to be at the end of the next grading period. Having been given the opportunity to have a class that is 1:1 this past quarter and being excited about the idea of implementing technology, I feel confident in saying I am well immersed in the substitution or entry level. I have been giving my students assignments online through mybigcampus.com, teaching them how to use mybigcampus.com as our classroom platform, showing them how to create documents and flashcards, starting discussion boards, and researching how to implement the iPads into my center work. By the end of the year, I am hoping to have my students doing more collaboration using their digital tools. This is something that will be easier next year once we have the full "roll out" since the students will be allowed to take their devices home. I am also excited about having my students doing more creating using the iPads. I like the idea of a more student centered learning environment and can't wait to see what my students can create. In order for me to move full steam ahead, I am hoping to have more freedoms about what programs and apps my students will have access to, but in the event that I encounter road blocks I will need to do extensive researching on how I can transform my classroom, despite any administrative restrictions I may face.
